Abel H. Hernandez Jr, 56, went to be with the Lord on Monday afternoon, June 12, 2023, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on June 4, 1967, in San Antonio Texas, a son of Abel and Elvira Hernandez.

Abel was a long-life resident of San Antonio and a graduate of Edgewood High School, class of 1986. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of living; times spent with friends, family and listening to music. Abel loved it when friends and family would get together where there was lots of laughter and food as he enjoyed grilling. He would travel at every opportunity, attend festivals and social events, and smoking a quality cigar. He enjoyed time spent taking care of his horse 'Peanut' an example of his generosity that knew no bounds as he would help anyone with support, encouragement, and guidance. Abel was an incredible father, grandfather, son, and brother who will be missed tremendously, until we meet again.

Family members include his daughter, Alexandra Hernandez; two grandchildren, Phenixx Zander and Michael James; parents, Abel Hernandez and Elvira Hernandez; siblings, Ernest Hernandez, Anthony Hernandez (Rose), and Eric Hernandez (Valerie); in addition to numerous extended family and friends.

The family will receive guests at Castillo Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm for visitation with a Chapel Service conducted at 6:00 pm.

A formal funeral procession will depart on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, from Castillo Funeral Home at 10:15 am for burial where a graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 am.
