Our father Abel A. Martinez Jr. gained his wings at the age of 79 on May 16, 2022. He was surrounded by loved ones who will strive to honor his memory by living our lives to the fullest just as he would like.

He is survived by his children, Abel V. Martinez III, Belinda Martinez, Sylvia Martinez, David Martinez and Marylou Martinez. His 19 Grandchildren and 37 Great-grandchildren. He Preceded in death by his wife Sobeida Martinez, Parents Abel and Concepcion Martinez, Sibling Frank A. Martinez, Juan Martinez, Ramon Martinez, Irene Herrera, and Grandson Michael De La Rosa

Abel was born on June 3, 1942, in San Antonio, Texas to the late Abel and Concepcion Martinez. He accomplished so many incredible things in life, but he was especially proud of and loved his family. All the memories made together with him will be cherished forever. The simplest pleasures in life such as spending time with family, and raising his roosters that brought the greatest joy to him.

His capacity for generosity knew no bounds as he was someone who would help anyone in need. He inspired those around him to be a better person. He was full of love and had a beautiful soul and a loving heart. He was devoted to his faith and family and brought immense joy to those around him. We loved his caring ways, and he will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

Words cannot express the feeling in our hearts. Thank you for your prayers and support during this difficult time. Your shared memories, comforting condolences and gestures of love are truly appreciated. His life will continue within us to keep his love for the family alive and may no division come upon us. These were his wishes. May he rest in peace

A visitation will be held at Castillo funeral home on Thursday June 2, 2022, from 3:30 pm to 8:00 pm with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 pm. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, June 3, 2022, at St. Jude Catholic Church at 10:00am with interment to follow at San Fernando Cemetery III.
