Obituary

Adolfo G. Zertuche, 65, widower of Elvira S. Zertuche, went to be with the Lord on January 1, 2024, in San Antonio Texas. He was born on November 19, 1958, in San Antonio Texas, a son of the late Lilia Gonzales Zertuche and Joe Cerda Zertuche.

Prior to his retirement he was employed for over 14 years with Reddy Ice Co. He had a heart of gold and was a joy to all who knew him. His sense of humor and witty jokes around anyone he knew or got to know always kept a smile on our faces. He was a huge fan of WWE and never missed a day of watching it. Family was most important to him, and he enjoyed playing video games with his son Juan, grandsons Izaiah and Aiden and loved spending quality time with his daughters Neveah, Debra, & Beatrice, and all of his grandkids. Time with his family were the moments he truly lived for and are treasured memories.

Adolfo was first diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in 2016, he received a bone marrow transplant on November 3, 2017, and beat Multiple Myeloma until it eventually came back November of 2023. While going through treatments that were helping, on December 9, 2023, he became very ill due to COVID, pneumonia, and adenovirus. He had very high hopes of getting better once he entered Parklane West so he could return home. On New Year's Eve 2023, Adolfo became very ill, his cancer must have been spreading and the result was his diagnosis of Gastric cancer being found. The most difficult decision to let him go, so he wouldn't suffer any longer, ultimately meant he would leave those he loved here to join all those who went before him in heaven.

Adolfo had been a fighter since day one of being diagnosed and lived a great life guided by the love for his family and the importance of what living truly meant. His passing leaves an unimaginable void, but his strength gives those left behind the power to persevere on, in and for his honor with the sure and certain faith that one day we will be reunited once again.

In addition to his wife of over 30 years Elvira S. Zertuche, and his parents Lilia Gonzales Zertuche and Joe Cerda Zertuche, he is also preceded in death by his daughter, April Soto; son-in-law, Mike Gomez and 5 siblings.

Family members include his children, Debra (Adam) Puente, Beatrice Zertuche, Joe Soto, Neveah Zertuche, Juan Zertuche, Corina Soto, Gilbert Soto, and Belinda Soto; 18 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren: 5 siblings; in addition to numerous extended family members and friends.

The family will receive guests on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at Castillo Funeral Home from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm for visitation and at 6:00 pm for a rosary service.

A funeral mass will be conducted on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, in San Juan de Los Lagos Catholic Church at 10:00 am. Burial will follow with a graveside service at Eastview Cemetery.
