Obituary

Aguedo Ledesma, Jr. ("Augie") was called home to be with the Lord on December 17, 2021, at 81 years of age. He was born on Smith Street in San Antonio, Texas on December 18, 1939. Augie is preceded in death by parents Aguedo Uriegas Ledesma, Sr. Maria Isabel Segovia Ledesma, Half sister Carmen Hernandéz, Maria Del Refugio Balderas and brothers Alejandro R. Ledesma and Francisco Segovia Ledesma. Augie is survived by his loving and supportive brother, Armando Segovia Ledesma. Augie is also survived by his wife of 21 years, Dora Bustos Ledesma, though they dated for 18 years before their marriage. Augie is also survived by his children Veronica L. Ledesma, Augedo Ledesma III and Jesse Garza (Pearl Garza), Virginia Bustos De Leon Jimenez (Barney Jimenez), Dr. Joel Bustos De Leon (Sabrina De Leon) and Abel Bustos De Leon (Helen De Leon). He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, Great-nephews, Great-nieces, Grandchildren and Great-grandchildren. Augie remained active throughout his entire life. As a young boy his father helped him work a paper delivery route, he also delivered medications for a pharmacy, he helped deliver produce and he worked several odd jobs. In his early adult years he worked as a line-cook, he owned a convenience store and he later worked as a truck driver for the City of San Antonio, where he retired after 35 years of service. Over the last 20 years, Augie dedicated himself to working on various projects, including wood-work. Many of his projects usually involved creating specialized props for Texas youth camps at Camp Lost Pines. While most people will never know the blessing that he was to many in the ministry in the state of Texas, he touched many hearts. In addition to making props for youth camps, he also worked the kitchen for those same youth camps for 10 years and he helped support missionary trips to both Central and South America and South East Asia. Augie loved running marathons throughout the United States, Mexico and the local Las Colonias Marathon. Augie ran marathons in California, Chicago, Las Vegas and he hoped to one day compete in the Boston Marathon. Some of his favorite hobbies included playing the violin for the Saltarelli String Orchestra and several percussion instruments for the worship team for Ingram Road Family Worship Center. Augie was a perfectionist all that he set his hands to work on. Whether he was building cabinets, a fence, a porch, a ceiling or whatever his hands found to do, he remained dedicated in all he did. One of his favorite sayings was, "Para que quede champion!" Augie was always outgoing and he kept a positive outlook on life. His humor always found its way into his conversations. At times he would playfully exclaim, "You don't know who you're messing with. You don't know the Great Augie!" After one discussion regarding Abott & Costello and Laurel & Hardy, his nickname to one loved one became "Oliver". Augie "Oliver" was acknowledged in a doctoral dissertation for his loving and prayerful support as well as his unending encouragement at every turn in the road for his loved ones. The Great Augie and his great, big, loving and compassionate heart and warmth will be sorely missed, but we know he remains in the hands of our loving Lord & Saviour, Jesus Christ.
