Alberto Ayarzagoitia Jr. a lifetime resident of San Antonio, Tx passed away on December 15th, 2024.  Alberto known as Sonny to his family was born on July 27,1952 to Alberto Sr. and Isabel Ayarzagoitia.  He attended and graduated from Holy Cross High School, awarded a 4 year scholarship to attend The University of Texas in Austin and earned his Bachelor's Degree.  He continued his education at UTSA earning 3 Master's Degrees.  He had a passion for teaching and mentoring others, furthering his career as an educator teaching at Bowie Elementary School, known as Mr. A, until he retired.  Alberto loved reading and collecting movies. He had an entertainment center with shelves full of western movies, Star Wars movies and action movies.  While Alberto never married, nor had children, he was a proud uncle to his nephew, Michael, great nephew Jacob and great niece Marissa.

He regularly bought them movies and gave little gifts that he was proud to present to them.  He was a very kind, considerate and humble person.  Alberto was preceded in death by his father, Alberto Sr. and mother Isabel Ayarzagoitia, two sisters Aida Ayarzagoitia, Sara Ayarzagoitia Contreras, his brother-in-law Steve Contreras.  He is survived by his sister Zulema Ayarzagoitia, One nephew Michael Anthony Contreras (Hermy Contreras), One great nephew and Godson Jacob Anthony Contreras, One great Niece Marissa Nicole Contreras.

The family will receive friends on January 1st, 2025 at Castillo Funeral Home, 520 N. Gen. McMullen for viewing beginning 3PM to 8PM, Rosary Services will commence at Castillo Funeral Home at 6PM, Church services at Holy Rosary Church, 159 Camino Santa Maria, on January 2nd, 2025 at 10AM, thereafter burial at San Fernando Cemetery #2, 746 Castroville Road, San Antonio, Texas. Alberto Jr. Sonny, is loved and will be missed by his sister, Zulema Ayarzagoitia, family and numerous cousins and friends.
