Zapata Sr.
August 11, 1959 – June 19, 2025
Aldo Ray Zapata Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away on June 19, 2025 after a hard fought battle with his illnesses, at the age of 65. He was surrounded by his loving family at the time of his passing in San Antonio, Texas.
Born on August 11, 1959 in Corpus Christi, Texas, Aldo Sr. was the son of Juan V. Zapata and Carlota Maria Zapata. He grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas and served proudly in the United States Army from 1979 to 1982. Aldo Sr. started his career in sales as an insurance broker where he thrived and later gravitated towards the auto industry. Aldo Sr. had a successful career of over 25 years in the car business; everything from sales to General manager.
Throughout his life, Aldo Sr. was a God fearing man and source of unwavering love, strength & guidance to his family & friends. He married Helen S. Zapata on February 2, 1982 in Colón, Panama while stationed at Fort Gulick. They built a life filled with love and cherished memories in San Antonio, Texas. Together they raised four children/spouses in parentheses: Tami (Louis), Vanessa Rae (Mike), Aldo Ray Jr. (Tanya) & Juan Carlos (Alicia), who will forever be grateful for his love, faith and support.
Aldo Sr. loved to read the Bible, listen to many types of music, gardening, watching movies with loved ones and was a die hard Dallas Cowboys fan. He was known for his unwavering faith, not only practicing but living it. Aldo Sr. will be remembered for always putting God first and starting every family gathering & meal with a prayer. Aldo Sr. will always be remembered by those who knew him best for having a great sense of humor, respect & always putting family first.
In addition to his children, Aldo Sr. is survived by 21 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, as well as a sister Gracie Palacios and many nieces & nephews along with many extended relatives & friends who were touched by his warmth, kindness & compassion.
A viewing will be held for the public on July 2, 2025 at Castillo Funeral Home, located at 520 N General McMullen Dr, San Antonio, TX 78228, from 4pm to 8pm; the recital of the Rosary will take place from 5-6pm.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of Aldo Ray Zapata Sr. will be held on July 3, 2025. Mass will begin at 11am at St. Jude Catholic Church located at 103 S San Augustine, San Antonio, TX 78237. The burial will begin at 1:15pm at Ft Sam Houston Cemetery located at 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209. Friends and family are invited to attend, pay their respects and share their memories.
