Alejandro P. Muniz Jr. passed away on March 23, 2023 at the age of 78 years old.
Alejandro, affectionately known as Jr. and Alex, was born on February 23,1945 in San Antonio, Texas. Alex was a graduate of Edgewood High School, class of 1965. He served in the United States Marine Corp and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He graduated from St. Phillip's College with an Associate Degree in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration and an Associate Degree in Upholstery. After his service in the military, he worked for City of San Antonio Parks and Recreation and then went to work at Kelly Air Force Base, where he later retired. He was also an expert mechanic and painter.
Alex spent his younger years learning auto repair from his father at Alex's Garage. His passion was mechanics and he was always willing to help his friends and family when they were having car trouble. Alex was a very giving man who would give you the shirt off his back. He loved and admired his wife and was an amazing father, father-in-law, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan and was extremely proud of his grandson's and great-grandson's athletic accomplishments. He will be missed tremendously.
Alejandro is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 57 years, Beatrice Muniz, his only daughter Yvonne Christina Muniz-Avila and son in law Jeffrey Avila. Grandchildren, Audry'le Rodriguez (Marco), Geoffrey'le Avila (Magdalena), and Ezra Alejandro Avila; great grandchildren, Jordan Medrano, Sofia Avila, Michael Rodriguez, Analisa Rodriguez, Geoffrey'le Avila Jr., and Alec Avila; sisters Stella Warner, Irma Lopez (Casimiro), and Adelita Diaz. He is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces. Alejandro is preceded in death by his parents, Alejandro and Adela Muniz Sr., brother Encarnacion "Chon'' Muniz, brother-in-law Bruce Warner and sister-in-law Janie Mendoza. The family would like to express their gratitude to his provider, Beatrice Ochoa for the loving care she provided.
A graveside service will take place Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at 11:15am at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery Shelter #2.
