Alexander
Fernandez
April 9, 1962 – May 30, 2023
Alexander Fernandez, 61, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday night, May 30, 2023, at his residence in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on April 9, 1962, in San Antonio, Texas, the youngest of five brothers and a son of the late Carolina and Ventura Fernandez.
Alexander was a 1979 graduate of Wheatly High School. He was always eager to read and learn something new and could fix just about anything. He enjoyed time listening to music loudly, fast cars, and especially his 1998 Dodge Ram. He was interested in astrology and loved sports. In his free time, he enjoyed watching baseball, basketball, and football; known by all to be a big Dallas Cowboy Football fan. He enjoyed simple pleasures in life like friendly conversations and strawberry margaritas from Taco Cabana. Alexander especially loved his family and was a proud grandpa to his only grandchild, Luna. Luna and 'papa' shared a close and special bond and the two of them enjoyed sharing snacks and ice cream together daily. A father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be missed and remembered forever, until we meet again.
In addition to his parents, Carolina Fernandez and Ventura Fernandez, he is also preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Dora Fernandez, nephew, David Fernandez (Delia), and a niece, Carolina Fernandez.
Family members included a son, Alexander Fernandez II, daughter, April Fernandez (Nicholas Laurel), granddaughter, Luna Laurel, his wife of 38 years who although separated at his passing shared a special bond, Velma Fernandez, siblings, Gilbert Fernandez, Robert Fernandez (Anne Marie), Hector Fernandez, and Alfredo Fernandez (Sarah), in addition to numerous extended family and friends.
The family will receive guests at Castillo Funeral Home on Saturday, June 17, 2023, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm with a prayer service at 2:00 pm.
