Obituary

Alfred S. Chapa went to be with our Lord on May 11, 2022, at the age of 65.

Alfred was born on May 15, 1956, in San Antonio Texas to Roque G. and Frances Santoy Chapa. He often reminisced about his time with the United States Navy where he spent four years before completing service. Known as "Electrician's Mate Third Class" while in the Navy; Alfred traveled the world and was very fond of his time in the military. He attended Texas A&M University. He worked for many years with the city aviation department at the San Antonio airport before finally retiring. Alfred and his wife Sylvia Chapa shared a 40-year adventure and marriage together. He loved grilling, barbequing chicken and hamburgers for his friends and family any chance he could. He would always bring smiles and laughter to us with his jokes. He was a sports fan who loved watching football or basketball; his favorite team was the San Antonio Spurs.

He inspired people around him to be better individuals. His capacity for generosity knew no bounds. He was someone who would help anyone in need with support, encouragement, and guidance. Alfred loved when family and friends got together. Those times exist in our memories and will be cherished forever. We loved his caring ways; he will be deeply missed and his memory will live on.

There are no words that can express the feelings in our hearts. Thank you for your prayers and support during this difficult time. Your shared memories, comforting condolences and gestures of love are truly appreciated.

He is preceded in death by his father, Roque G. Chapa.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia M. Chapa; mother, Frances S. Chapa; siblings, Lupe Gaona (Ismael), Rocky Chapa (Grace), Mario S. Chapa (Gracie), Sara Chapa, and Charlotte Mata; in addition to numerous extended family and friends.
