Obituary

Alfredo R. Cortinas was called home to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on January 22, 2021. He was born on August 4, 1941 to Belia and Alfredo Cortinas. Wero, as he was known to his family and friends, was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Wero attended Sidney Lanier High School and proudly served his country by enlisting in the US Army under the 25th Infantry. Later he found his trade as an Electrician. To know Wero was to love him. He knew no stranger, everyone was an instant friend. He greeted all with a smile and a warm embrace.
Other passions included music and sports. When it came to music, there was rarely an oldie he did not know or hadn't heard before. If you wanted a CD of oldies, Wero was your guy. With sports, baseball was his favorite. As a boy, he was blessed enough to travel and play in the Little League World Series. He played softball until his knees wouldn't allow him. He was player, a coach and when it came to his grandkids, he was their biggest fan, rarely missing a game.
Wero and his wife Linda were members of a volunteer group called Ghost Town Survivors/Barrio Girls. They held many events to raise money to give back to the barrio they grew up in. His favorite event was purchasing gifts and delivering them to families in need during the Christmas Holidays. Nothing brought him more joy then to see the smiles on the children's faces.
Wero is proceeded in death by his parents along with brothers Abel and Mario Cortinas. He is survived by wife of 45 years Linda Cortinas, daughter Pamela (Jaime Monreal), daughter Yvonne "Bonnie" (Jeffrey Rivera), grandchildren; Amorie, Javier, Sydney and Evan along with 4 great grandchildren as well as sister Irma, brothers Frank and Harvey and numerous nieces, nephews.
