Obituary

Alice Rendon Rodriguez passed away peacefully on December 25, 2021. She exhibited unconditional love to her five children and husband and always put them first in everything she did. She taught her children faith, discipline, manners, integrity, perseverance, loyalty, dedication, and the importance of an education and hard work.

Alice married her school and neighborhood sweetheart, Augustine Rodriguez Jr., who preceded her in death on October 18, 2010. She was a housewife most of her life and provided nurturing, compassion, and outstanding cooking making homemade tortillas every day. Relatives enjoyed visiting her home because Alice took care of them as if they were her own. They would enjoy her homemade tortillas, beans, papas, fideo, rice, picadillo, chalupas, tacos and the list goes on. She enjoyed Tejano music and loved dancing with her husband while her kids played on the swings at HemisFair Park. She loved music from groups like Sonny and the Sunliners, Selena, Mazz, Joe Bravo, and Joe-Johnny Y La Familia. She loved watching "Peliculas" with Vicente Fernandez like El Tahur, Por Tu Maldito Amor, and La Ley Del Monte . The most important thing Alice did was teach her children to be Catholic and believe in the Bible. She especially loved visiting the Basilica of Our Lady San Juan Del Valle. She enjoyed visiting parks like Conception Park, Roosevelt Park, Brackenridge Park, the San Antonio Zoo, the various Missions in San Antonio to include the Alamo. She enjoyed taking family trips to San Angelo, Uvalde, and Houston. She helped move her family to various houses but made them feel at home. Some of those homes were located at 127 Benita, 520 Halstead, 811 Ripford, and 514 Roslyn.

Alice is preceded in death by her father, Victor Faz Rendon, her mother, Emma Gans Rendon, her sister, Emma Rendon De Leon, Father-in-Law, Fidel Rodriguez, Mother-in-law, Manuela G. Rodriguez, and her sister-in-law, Lydia Fernandez.

Alice is loved and will be missed by her sons, Augustine Rodriguez III (Estella), Daniel Rodriguez (Edna), Ralph Rodriguez; daughters, Dorothy Haas and Jeanette R. Valdez (Andy); 16 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

A visitation will be held at Castillo Funeral Home on Thursday, January 6, 2022, from 4 pm to 8 pm with a Rosary to be recited at 6pm. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, January 7, 2022, at St Leo Catholic Church with interment to follow at San Jose Burial Park.
