Alicia G. Lopez passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. She was born on March 5, 1943, in Poteet, Texas, to Domingo V. Garcia and Elvira G. Garcia. She was one of eight siblings, with three brothers and four sisters. Alicia was married for 30 years to her beloved husband, Andrew Lopez. They are now reunited and rejoicing together once again. She was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. Alicia loved to cook, clean, and go shopping. Her hobbies included dancing, baking, completing crossword puzzles, and watching novellas, Criminal Minds, and the News. Alicia was a dedicated mother to Marivel Lozano (Daniel) and Annette Lopez (Joseph).
Alicia's greatest joy and biggest blessing was being a grandmother. She loved her grandchildren dearly: Aundria A. Nuncio (Christian), Alexandria M. Lozano, Araceli J. Alderete, and Joseph A. Alderete. In addition to being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Alicia was the family's trusted babysitter. She cared for many nieces and nephews who fondly called her "Memo." Alicia was deeply loved by all who had the privilege of knowing her and will be greatly missed. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and laughter.
Alica Lopez is survived by her sisters Elvira Montenegro and Gloria G. Ovalle. She is preceded in death by her brothers Eloy V. Garcia, Alvaro V. Garcia, and Jesse V. Garcia. Sisters, Mary Lou Zertuche and Anita G. Duron. Also, her beloved papasitos grandson Joseph A. Alderete.
The family invites you to join them in celebrating Alicia's life. A rosary will take place on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at Castillo Funeral Home (520 N. General McMullen, San Antonio, TX), with visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church (7893 Grissom Rd., San Antonio, TX). Burial will be at another time.
