Obituary

Alma Gloria Hernandez was born December 6, 1953 in Mercedes, Texas to Maria Louisa Gauna  and Jesus Quintero. Alma joined our Lord and Savior on August 19, 2021. Young at heart, Alma was a beloved wife, devoted sister, loving grandma, favorite aunt, fun cousin, and faithful friend. Anyone blessed enough to cross her path, not only received her kindness, but her faithful prayers. Those who knew Alma well, would say she was a fiery little thing, that loved unconditionally, and always stood firm in her convictions. Alma embodied a Christ-like spirit in all that she did. Alma was a dedicated nurse for 42 years. Early in her nursing career she would travel for missionary work. Passionate about helping others, she owned a shed full of donated medical equipment that she would give away. She never expected perfection because she knew that we are not perfect people, but she did expect us to make an effort. She ministered to anyone who had the privilege of meeting her.  She encouraged those around her to walk the path God chose for them, to pray for answers, and forgive with love. Alma would preach to place God and family at the forefront of every household. Alma loved to serve others, and was a blessing to her family, friends, and community through that servitude. Oftentimes, one would feel the need to book an appointment to spend time with her as she had back to back plans to help those who confided in her. They say God takes our angels on earth because he needs them. Well truthfully, I'm jealous, he gets to spend forever with the most beautiful soul I have ever known. With God's blessing, I pray her spirit lives on in each of us, as we practice the lessons she taught us. She will always be treasured in our hearts.
Alma is survived by her loving husband Gus Hernadez, her sons: and family: Billy & Amy Hernandez, Brian & Camille Davila, grandchildren: Levi, Isaiah, Liam, and Emri, sisters: Julie Dominguez, & Rosie Atterberry. Alma is predeceased by her parents Maria Louisa Gauna, Jesus Quintero, sisters: Josephina & Maria Quintero, brother: Jesse Quintero II.
