Alvaro Coronado Jr. age 81 passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026. Born in Fort Jackson South Carolina on July 14, 1944 to Susana V. Zuniga and Alvaro L. Coronado.
He graduated from Holy Cross High School. Served his country in the Navy on the USS Chicago, then went on to become a law enforcement officer with SAPD for 32 years , later retired in 2000.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife Carmen, mother Susana, dad Alvaro and grandson Adrian. He is survived by his three sons Al (Sonya), Cesar (Misty), and Matthew.  Brothers Henry (Lucy)and Edward (Mary). Sisters Irene S. Martinez (Ignacio), Irma (Jim) Stella, Esther and Nora (Mike). Eight grandchildren six great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.
Services will be held at Castillo Funeral Home on Monday March 9th, visitation 4-8pm rosary at 6pm. On Tuesday March 10th departure at 8:30am Committal Service 9:30am at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
