Amado
Zuniga
May 7, 1942 – July 6, 2023
Amado "Mario" Zuniga passed away peacefully on July 6, 2023, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family. He was 81 years old. Amado was born in Colonia Castro, Durango, México, on May 7, 1942.
Amado had one brother and seven sisters. He grew up in El Venado and Torreón, Coahuila, México. In the mid-70s he began crossing into the U.S. and working as a migrant farmer. In 1975 he met the love of his life, Julia Castillo, while they were both working at La Quinta Hotel. He embraced Julia's 12 children as his own. They also raised several grandchildren together. Amado treasured the beautiful memories he created with his family throughout his 81 years on this earth.
He was a big fan of baseball, boxing, Los Tigres soccer team, and the San Antonio Spurs. Most precious to Amado was his love for Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe. He will be missed tremendously.
Amado is preceded in death by his parents Juan and Severiana, his brother, and his sisters. Amado is also preceded in death by his children Margret Hernandez, Norma Meraz, and Carlos Martinez.
Amado is loved and will be missed by his wife Julia Zuniga, 9 children, countless grandchildren, several great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
