December 6, 1943 – February 21, 2026
Amelia Cadena Sanchez passed away peacefully on February 21st,
2026 in San Antonio, Texas. She was surrounded by her three sons -
Steven Lee Sanchez, William Lee Sanchez and Brian Keith Sanchez
when she was called home to be with The Lord.
Amelia Cadena Sanchez is preceded in death by her loving husband,
Eleazar Castro Sanchez, her older brother Arturo Cadena and
younger sister Alicia Camacho. She has one surviving sibling -
Armando Cadena.
She is survived by her three sons - Steven Lee Sanchez /Julia
Sanchez, William Lee Sanchez/Maria Aracely Sanchez and her
youngest son - Brian Sanchez.
She is also survived by her five grandchildren - Giovanni Lee
Sanchez, Gaven Lee Sanchez, Diego Arturo Sanchez, Heaven Aliyah
Sanchez and Noa Lee Sanchez.
She also survived by her great grand children - Madison Marie
Sanchez, Amberlynn Lee Sanchez, Avery Nikko Melendez, Eleazar
Mateo Sanchez and Rafael Vellecio Sanchez.
She was born to Pablo and Catalina Cadena on December 6, 1943.
She attended Lanier High School where she graduated in 1962. She
married Eleazar Castro Sanchez in 1968. They were married for 37
years until his death in 2005.
Amelia was very involved in her community. She was a known
advocate for children with special needs. She spent many years
volunteering in community schools. She was thought of as a second
mom to many kids in the neighborhood - becoming a source of
guidance and support to those who needed it. She also worked as a
secretary, book keeper and was often referred to was "The right
hand" of anyone she worked for - she was always a valued employee.
Amelia was known for her strong willed, but loving nature by all who
knew her. She was a woman based on truth and principles that
guided her life. She was a strong, positive influence for those who
knew and loved her. She had many life long friends who think of her
fondly with much love and respect.
Amelia will truly be missed by her family and friends. She had a life
well lived through her service and compassion for others.
Services for Amelia Cadena Sanchez will be at Castillo Funeral Home.
The visitation will be on March 4 from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM. She will be
laid to rest the following day on March 5 at 10:30 AM at Fort Sam
Houston National Cemetery.
