Amparo Tovar was called home to be with the Lord March 12, 2022.

Amparo is reunited in Heaven with her Parent s, Rosa and Ramiro Rodriguez; her sister, Augustina "Tina" Fernandez, and her brother, Ramiro "Boy" Rodriguez Jr.; as well as her beloved friend/compadre, Jose Luis Villarreal, and her father-in-law, Hilario Barraza.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Gerardo Tovar; her daughters, Tracie Tovar and Geraldine Pena, along with her son-in-law, Daniel Pena; her 5 beautiful granddaughters, Danielle, Gabrielle, Annabelle Pena, Carissa and Marissa Cabrera; as well as her sister, Mary Helen Rodriguez; brothers-in-law, Johnny Rodriguez and Luis Fernandez; beloved sister/best friend, Patricia Villarreal; and her mother-in-law, Minerva Barraza; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Amparo was born April 19, 1962, in San Antonio, Texas. As a child, her family described her as a fun and loving daddy's girl. She loved to dance as a young lady. She was a wonderful wife and mother. Amparo spent many years fighting cancer. She is one of the toughest women we have ever met. Even though she was taken from us much too soon, we know she is in a better place where she no longer feels any pain. She will be missed but never forgotten, for she lives in all our hearts and memories. We will all remember the times we had together and cherish every minute.

The Visitation will be held Saturday, March 26,2022, from 1-5PM, with a Memorial Services at 3PM at Castillo Funeral Home, 502 N. General McMullen Dr., San Antonio Texas 78228.
