Obituary

Anastacio G. Castro, Jr. (Tacho) 71, of San Antonio, TX., passed away February 17, 2021.  He was born on May 20, 1949, in San Buenaventura, Mexico, the son of Anastacio Castro Castro and Maria Carmen Galvan.

In his early years, Anastacio worked as a brewer for the Lone Star Brewery Co., which was the first large, mechanized brewery in Texas. He later dedicated himself to the construction industry where he enjoyed working on construction sites. His passion was working hard alongside his friends and his brothers Samuel, Robert, and Richard.

He worked as a concrete laborer and moved up the ranks to Foreman Supervisor where he was responsible for labor, work schedules, and cost estimates in the placing, finishing, and curing of concrete construction projects. He mentioned that he mostly enjoyed the beauty of troweling and floating concrete into a smooth and fine-level surface. It was his way of leaving a lasting impression, demonstrating excellence in his craft.

After his early retirement from construction, Mr. Castro enjoyed spending time with friends and family.  He took on unique business ventures, and at one time, operated a vehicular towing service that eventually led him into his hobby of restoring classic cars.

Tacho loved to get together with his friends over cookouts, which always went into the morning hours, listening to his favorite 'Conjunto Tejano' and 'Norteno' classics.  Mr. Castro was loved by his family, friends, and neighbors. Those who knew him well would say that he was always there to help those in need. He leaves lasting memories and he will be missed by us all.

Anastacio is preceded in death by his parents, Anastacio Castro Castro and Maria Carmen Galvan, siblings: Neptali Castro, Lydia Hernandez, Yolanda Hernandez, Ricardo Castro, Roberto Castro, and child, Anastacio Romero Castro. Anastacio is survived by his wife, Yolanda Medina Nevarez, siblings:  Elizabeth (Licha) Ayala (Eugenio), Samuel R.
