Andrea M.
Martinez
November 10, 1940 – August 9, 2021
Our loving mother, Andrea M. Martinez passed away peacefully on Aug 9, 2021 at 80 years of age. She was born on November 10, 1940, in Presa Verde Cedral, San Luis Potosi, Mexico, to Juan Vargas and Petra Mendoza. In the Summer of 1957, she married Jose G. Martinez. Together, they had 9 children: 5 girls and 4 boys. She was a devoted wife and mother. Her husband, Jose, preceded her in death on December 18th, 1977. She then became a widow and was left with the toughest job of all- raising 9 children on her own.
She was as loving and caring as she was stern and strict. She enjoyed cooking for her family, and we will miss her traditional Mexican dishes such as tamales, menudo, mole, buñuelos, and most of all, her homemade tortillas. She always made sure that her children had everything they needed, never backing down from the struggles of being a single mother. She later found great joy in her role as a grandmother and great grandmother, or as her grandchildren called her, "Momo". She treasured the beautiful memories that she created with her family and loved each and every single one of us. Andrea was also preceded in death by her sons, Gustavo Martinez and Juan Martinez.
She is loved and will be missed by her companion of almost 40 years, Frank Ruiz, and her surviving children: Silvia Martinez Vargas (Armando), Jose V. Martinez(Irma), Evelia Martinez (Nick), Elizabeth Martinez (Gabriel), Andrea Martinez (Omar), Lionel Martinez (Georgia), Angelica Camarillo (Rene), as well as 29 grandchildren and 42 great grandchildren (and counting). As painful as it is to have lost our loving mother and kindhearted brother, Juan Martinez, within an hour of each other, it brings us some comfort to know that he was waiting for our mother at Heaven's gates. May they both be in the loving arms of God.
