Annie" Curd Mendez

Anita Curd Mendez (Annie) beloved mother, and grandmother was called to heaven on Sunday, August 20, 2023, at the age of 85.
Annie was born on July 26, 1938, in McAllen, Texas to Robert James Curd and Esther H. Curd. After graduating from Edgewood High School, she married her High School Sweetheart, the late Pedro R. Mendez, in 1958. Annie and Pedro began their lives together and started a family soon after. Annie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She had a deep love for spending time with her family, sharing captivating stories with her grandchildren, playing BINGO, and dancing. Her joy in these moments brought smiles and laughter to all who were fortunate enough to be part of her life. Annie's caring nature and kind spirit were evident through her love for helping others. She made a positive impact on many lives and will be remembered for her selflessness and compassion.
Annie is preceded in death by her parents, Robert James and Esther H. Curd, her infant daughter, Sandra Ann Mendez, husband, Pedro R. Mendez, brothers, Robert, Charles, Oscar, James, and Jesse Curd, sisters, Alice Garcia, Mary Esther Campos, Mary Agnes Casias, Cynthia C. Lerma. Living siblings Cora Loredo, Mary Ann Valdez, Hilda Curd, Doris and husband Joe Tovar, and brother-in-law, David Lerma. She is survived by her children Elizabeth and husband Ernest Flores, Rebecca and husband John Sanchez, Pete Mendez and wife Laura, Hector Mendez and wife Sylvia, 14 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family extends special thanks to the VITAS staff, Carolina, Sara, and Veronica, for their compassionate care and support during Annie's journey.
Their dedication provided comfort and eased the challenges faced during this time
