Anita
Gutierrez
June 10, 1930 – February 4, 2022
Anita Gutierrez was called into the arms of the Lord on Friday, February 4, 2022, at the blessed age of 91. She was born on June 10, 1930 in Aransas Pass, Texas and moved to San Antonio after the untimely passing of her parents. Anita met the love of her life, Cresencio Gutierrez, and they were married on September 1, 1951. Together they shared 63 years of marriage, raising 5 rambunctious children along the way. Besides caring for her family, Anita loved to go shopping- Macy's and J.C. Penney were among her favorite stores to go to. She loved to listen to music, dance, and spend time outdoors growing beautiful flowers and plants. Anita and Cresencio were devout members of St. James The Apostle Catholic Church since the church opened in 1954.
To say that Anita loved her family is a huge understatement. Her family was her life! There was always a place for you at the Gutierrez house- no matter what. She adored her grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and was excited to know that she was going to be a great-great grandma very soon! She loved to go out to eat with her family- some of her favorite restaurants were Mexican Manhattan, Piedras Negras, Mary Lou's, and Patty's Taco House . When the weather was nice Anita would sit outdoors and converse with her longtime neighbors or tend to her numerous plants. She went to church every Sunday and was actively involved with the Guadalupana Society until the last few months when her health started to decline.
Anita is reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband Cresencio and their daughter Rose Marie Aguilar. Anita was loved by her family immensely and our hearts have a hole now that cannot be replaced. Anita leaves her legacy in the hearts and actions of her children Jesse Gutierrez (Sylvia), Chris Gutierrez, Delia Kirksey-Garcia (Robert), and Robert Gutierrez (Carmen); son-in-law Tomas Aguilar; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 1 great- great grandchild on the way; numerous nieces and nephews from the Gutierrez family; and last but not least her longtime neighbors on Prado Street.
