With love and gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we celebrate the life of our beloved mother, Anita V. Vallejo, born on July 27, 1933, who passed away peacefully on May 10, 2026. Anita was born in Karnes City, Texas and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother whose love and kindness touched generations of her family for 92 years. Anita gave selflessly to her family and was known for her generous heart, welcoming smile, and the joy she brought to everyone around her.
For more than 40 years, she was a faithful and cherished member of St. Henry’s Catholic Church. She was also an active member of the Prayer Group and Guadalupana’s, sharing her strong faith, compassion, and friendship with her church family and community. Her faith and love for others were at the center of her life and inspired all who knew her.
Anita loved opening her home to family and friends and was happiest when cooking for those she loved. Her specialty was her delicious pinto beans, which she carefully prepared the night before so they would be perfect to share with everyone gathered around her table and the parish. The love she put into every meal made people feel welcomed, cared for, and at home.
She had a wonderful green thumb and found happiness in caring for plants and tending to her beautiful yard. Her garden reflected her nurturing spirit – full of life, beauty and love. Her family and friends will forever treasure the memories, laughter, wisdom and love she shared so freely.
Anita was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Santos L. Vallejo; her parents, Jesus and Cuca Valdez; her daughter, Lucia (Lucy) V. Alviso; and her brothers, Jesse, Arnulfo and Ruben Valdez. She is survived by her daughter, Ruth V. Moreno; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and four beloved fur grandbabies. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of faith, kindness, and devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
Funeral services will be held at Castillo Funeral Home, 520 N. General McMullen, San Antonio, Texas 78228, on Monday, May 18, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. with a rosary at 6:00 p.m. Friends and family are invited to gather and pay their respects.
Castillo Funeral Home will open at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, for visitation. The funeral procession will depart Castillo Funeral Home at 9:15 a.m., for St. Henry’s Catholic Church, 1619 S. Flores St., San Antonio, Texas 78204 where a Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m.
