Antonio “James” Lopez, a beloved husband, brother, uncle and friend passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on September 21, 2026. He was born on June 13, 1961, in Amarillo, Texas. James was a gentle, intelligent, and selfless man, who will be remembered for his kind demeanor, incredible patience, and the sense of calm he brought to those around him.

James was the cherished son of the late Antonio R. Lopez and Antonia Lopez. He grew up in a household that was rich in love and laughter, values that he carried with him throughout his life. James’s generous spirit and infectious smile left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered.

On June 26, 2004, James married the love of his life, Fernando Contreras. Their years together were filled with love, companionship, laughter, travel, and countless memories. Some of the best times were often the simplest—vacations to Maui, enjoying cold beers together, weekend barbecues with family, laughing, and simply enjoying each other’s company with their dog Rosie.

James is survived by his loving husband Fernando. His daughter, Virginia Lopez, two grandchildren; and his siblings; brothers Luis Lopez (Lisa), Dominic Lopez (Cindy), sisters Carmen Irpino (Steve), Tina Brown (Ken), and Julia Gabby (Joe). He was also a proud and loving uncle and is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, extended family members, and friends who loved him dearly.

James’s legacy is one of love, resilience, and generosity. He touched the lives of everyone around him with his compassion and understanding. Despite the challenges he faced, James remained a source of strength and positivity, and his memory will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Rosary will be recited at 6:00PM on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at Castillo funeral home with visitation beginning at 4:00pm.
On Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at 9:00am, we will gather to pay our final respects at Castillo funeral home followed by a funeral mass to be celebrated at 10:00am at Saint Ann’s Catholic Church.

Antonio “James” Lopez will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
