Obituary

On Tuesday, May 10, 2022, our father, Antonio G. Valadez Sr. passed away peacefully in his own bed surrounded by his loved ones. After declining health over the last few months, he was called home to be with our Lord Tuesday evening. Though his body was tired and weak, his spirit was strong, full and grateful for all the things that were dear to him. Antonio was born in Hebronville, Texas on September 2nd, 1929 to Pablo & Ponciana Valadez. Antonio worked for Hagendorf Construction in Boerne, Texas for several decades until his retirement.

Our father was a wonderful and caring man who loved his family deeply. He showed us what it was like to be kind, loving, honest, hard-working, fair and loyal. He always smiled and joked with those he loved. He was a funny storyteller and would often get caught in a loop and repeat the story over and over again. We'd say fast forward, Daddy, fast forward! He was the glue that held our family together. Our family has held on tightly to the bond he instilled in us.

Antonio was preceded in death by his parents, Pablo & Ponciana Valadez. Siblings: Valentin Valadez, Pablo Valadez II, Ramona Narvaez, Jose Valadez, Ponciana Mauricio, Fidencio Valadez, Evangelina Hernandez, Marshal Valadez, Celestina Mauricio.  Grandson: Larry Antonio Valadez Jr. Great-Granddaughter: Emma Noelle Villasana. Sons-in-Law: Jose Vasquez & Les Smeltzer.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 67 years, Lucy Valadez. Children: Diana Vasquez, Mary Alice Ramon (Eddie), Antonio Valadez Jr. (Melinda), Larry Valadez (Irene) and Leticia Valadez. Sisters: Maria Garcia & Margarita Salas. Antonio was a grandfather, great-grandfather & great-great grandfather. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends whom he loved very much.

Please join us for his viewing on Wednesday, May 25th from 4-6pm. Rosary to follow at 6pm. A Catholic Mass will be held on Thursday, May 26th starting at 10:00 am at St. Dominic's Catholic Church, 5919 Ingram Road. Graveside ceremony & internment to follow at San Fernando Cemetery #2 at 746 Castroville Rd. A reception to follow immediately after internment. Please RSVP to reception as details and contact info were sent out earlier in the week.

A prayer for our Father...

Dear Jesus, come wait here, dwell here with me. I hide in your presence, and rest in the grief. I lost so much when Dad passed away, his comfortable arm around my shoulder, his generous love of me. Lord, stir up these wonderful memories and help me to soak in that warmth. And when I am chilled by his absence, please cover me with your love and surround me with your arms. Fill up my dreams with the hope of Heaven, my mind with the promise of truth. Give me the vision to trust that my father is safe now with you. Lead me to new springs of life to enjoy, until I too come home Lord to you.
