Obituary

Antonio H. "Tony" Martinez, 77, passed away peacefully in his sleep with family by his side on December 17th, 2023.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Guadalupe, three siblings: Maria Estella, Juan Jr. and Jose. He is survived by Hope Martinez, his wife of 50 years; his three sons, Michael, Eugene and Rene; siblings, Elvira, Genie, and Robert, as well as daughters-in-law, Melissa Martinez and Nadia Martinez and his six grandsons, Jayden, Dylan, Jase, Lleyton, Landyn, and Jaxson. In addition, he leaves behind numerous extended family and friends.

Tony served in the United States Army for 30 years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and had a career as a civil servant with the Army. He retired at the rank of Sergeant Major.

He had a passion for landscaping. His yard was his personal oasis where he continually created beautiful works of art. He imparted a love for nature on his boys, and some of his family's best memories were born from the countless trips that he took his family on to the coast and camping at Canyon Lake. After retirement, he spent his days enjoying his grandchildren and watching them grow.

In his love and dedication to his family, in the counsel that he provided to those in need, and in the kindness, humility, and grace he displayed to all, Tony exemplified what it means to be a good man. Throughout his life, he consistently demonstrated integrity and moral courage. He was loved and respected by many, and the world is a lesser place without him.
