Arlinda "Linda" Gonzalez Rodriguez
September 18, 1936 – February 5, 2026
Linda, a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at home on February 5, 2026, at the age of 89.
Born in Carrizo Springs, Texas, on September 18, 1936, to Javier "Johnson" and Logaria "Lala" Gonzalez; and the youngest of three children, eldest being her sister Maria Gloria Martinez and her older brother, Javier "Kelè" Gonzalez.
As we grieve her passing, we also celebrate her remarkable life, her devotion to God and her self-sacrificing love for her family. She is survived by her brother; her children: Michael, Randy (Terry), Teri (David), Cindy and John (Jayme); her grandchildren: Richard (Jennifer), Debra, Layla (Dillon), Nicolas (Imani), Conner, Elena and Antonio; and her great-grandchildren: Averi, Audrey, Kourtney, Chloe and Aliya.
Linda lived a full life and loved sharing stories of her youth and of her years growing up in Carrizo Springs. She had wonderful memories of helping her father drive cars for his auto dealership and of helping her parents with their small grocery store (la tiendita). She was also very proud of being the first Hispanic duchess in her high school's homecoming court.
Among Linda's many talents, she learned to play the saxophone like her father and became a good seamstress like her mother. She used her sewing skills to make beautiful clothing for friends and family and to supplement her income while working as a licensed beautician. She never failed to be present in her children's lives, even working as a mama patrol to watch over them as they walked home from school. Later in life, she worked in retail, including Joske's, Foley's and Macy's before finally retiring. She had a great love for the San Antonio Spurs and truly enjoyed watching them play.
Our mother was strong willed to the very end, and she will be remembered for always saying "I love you more" and "I love you mucho grande". To quote St. Augustine, "You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they rest in you".
We love you, Mom; may God's peace be with you.
