Augustina T.
Balderas
May 5, 1926 – November 23, 2020
Augustina Balderas , 94, of San Antonio, Texas passed away peacefully at 1:30 AM, Monday, November 23, 2020, at a nursing home surrounded by the loving thoughts of her family. She was born May 5, 1926 in Asherton, Texas to Maria de Jesus and Epitacio Torres. At the age of 16, she met and married Rosendo "Tata" Balderas of Honda, Texas.
Augustina, know as "Nana" to everyone, was a homemaker for 70 years and in addition to raising her 5 children (Elena, Rosendo Jr., Elidia, Janie, and Raymond) she also raised 4 granddaughters ( Debbie, Alexandria, Sandra, and Christine). Nana enjoyed taking trips with her husband and family to visit the Basilica of Our Lady of San Juan de Valle in San Juan, Texas. But Nana's most treasured times were the beautiful memories created of family gatherings and always enjoyed their grandchildren around them.
After her husbands passing in 2012, Augustina went to stay with her youngest daughter, Janie Rangel, who took exceptional care of her until she was admitted into the Golden Estates Nursing Home in 2018 and was a resident there until her passing. While in the facility, Augustina gained an extended family with both residents and staff.
Our family would like to thank the entire staff at Golden Estates Center for your loving care of our Nana for the past 2 years. Please know that there are no words to express our gratitude and appreciation. The decision to place her in the nursing home was a difficult one to make, as we all worried that her health would decline due to moving her from her home. Little did we know at the time, the additional care would be a blessing to her. A special 'Thank You' to her nurse David, and CNA Mary Portillo and Carmen. Tremendous gratitude to Jennifer Bledsoe for the FaceTime communications and window visits due to the pandemic. Special appreciation to Golden States Home Administrator, Mr. Lee Grote. We were especially blessed to have Mrs. Clara May as Nana's roommate, companion, and adopted family member.
Augustina was preceded in death by her husband, Rosendo Balderas Sr. and son Rosendo Balderas Jr.
