Obituary

Aurora Teneyuca, 82, passed away peacefully at her home with family by her side Wednesday, January 1st, 2020. Aurora was born in Harlingen, Texas, on July 27th, 1937, to Concepcion and Jacinto Bustamante. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe R. Teneyuca; son, Albert Teneyuca; sister, Maria Silva; brothers, Beto Rodriguez, Jesus Rodriguez, and Arturo Rodriguez; daughter-in-law, Nelly Teneyuca; great-granddaughter, Gabriella Rodriguez; and great-great-granddaughter, Emilia Garza. In the year 1955, at the age of seventeen, she married the love of her life of 51 years, Joe R. Teneyuca. Joe, a staff sergeant in the Airforce, and Aurora traveled to many places from Japan, Arizona, and Texas. They settled in San Antonio, Texas, where she worked as a pastry chef for the SAISD school district for several years. Together they had seven children; two daughters, Irene T. Jimenez and Yolanda Lopez; five sons, Joe R. Teneyuca, David Teneyuca, Albert Teneyuca, Danny Teneyuca, and Jaime Teneyuca. Aurora was always the life of the party, smiling and laughing with joy. On the weekends, she and Joe could be found at Sandy's or C&E dancing to the beat of every song. When she wasn't dancing, her pool stick was chalked and ready to hit the cue ball. After her dancing days, Bingo became her favorite pastime. Aurora played three days a week and could play up to six cards at a time with her eyes closed. She had her lucky table, and everyone knew her by name. Everywhere she went, Aurora always dressed up in style with bright colors, permed hair, red lipstick, painted nails, and the most beautiful earrings to complete the outfit. Aurora inspired many with her positive, cheerful love for family and her faith in God. She welcomed all into her home and made everyone feel loved. She was a strong matriarch of her family, a good mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother to many. Aurora is fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, cousins extended family, and many good friends. Aurora is survived by six children: Irene T. Jimenez and her spouse, Ernesto G. Jimenez, Joe Teneyuca, Yolanda Lopez, David Teneyuca, and his spouse, Rosie Ann Teneyuca, Danny Teneyuca, and his spouse, Debbie S. Teneyuca, Jaime Teneyuca; and sister, Lupita Rodriguez. She is the beloved Grandma to 19 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
