Bertha Deluna
Garcia
December 9, 1931 – January 20, 2020
Bertha DeLuna Garcia gained her wings on January 20, 2020. She was surrounded by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren and other family members and countless friends. Bertha was born in Laredo, Texas, on December 9, 1931.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Juan R. Garcia, and son, Jorge Martinez. She is survived by her precious children, Guadalupe Cardenas and husband Robert, Francisco Javier Villalobos Sr. and wife Linda, Norma Marie Garcia, Martha Ann Garcia and Laura Ann Garcia. Other family members include her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, sisters, brother, numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.
Bertha was a member of the American Legion Post 399. She was the President of the Women's Auxiliary, where she was dedicated to leading and participating in fundraisers, feeding the veterans and various other events. Bertha made many life long friends at 399 and loved to attend the activities long after the 15 plus years as president. Bertha loved cooking and feeding everyone, and everyone always looked forward to her excellent meals. Bertha loved parties, music and dancing. Her favorite artist was Vicente Fernandez among many others. Most of us loved to watch Bertha dance. She didn't need a partner to get her started, just a good song and she was on her feet ready to boogie the night away. She often out-danced the younger ones. Her smile, warmth and happy spirit drew others to her. One of her favorite things to do was reminisce about her early years and experiences. She treasured her experiences with family. Bertha was loved by many, many people. She will be missed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace and may the Lords perpetual light shine upon her spirit. We love you, mama Bertha.
