Obituary

Bertha Donel Levario, 65, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 22, 2022.  She passed away peacefully surrounded by love and family.  Bertha was born in San Antonio, Texas on October 4,1957 to Olivia and Alfredo Donel, Sr. She was a loving and dedicated, wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.
Bertha graduated from Edgewood High School in 1976 and as a student began working at Shaw's Jewelers in downtown San Antonio.  She lived in California for a few years and returned to her hometown in 1978.  It was at MG Building Materials in 1984 where she met Lawrence (Larry) Levario  the love of her life. She was a very dedicated and diligent professional.  She considered her most important roles to be a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt.
Bertha is survived by her loving husband and best friend of 38 years, Larry Levario, her loving son Marcos Sanchez III  and his wife, Louann, her parents Olivia and Alfredo Donel, Sr., her loving stepsons Lawrence Levario, Jr. (Christine), Andreas (Andy) Levario (Nydia), her siblings: Alfredo Donel, Jr. (Yvonne), Anna Marie (Rena) Donel, Anthony Donel (Sylvia) and Oscar Donel (Stephanie), grandchildren:  Heidi, Cadence, Lawrence III, Ezra, Caleb, Josiah and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends and her beloved fur babies: Gaby, Lexi and Guero.  She was preceded in death by her fur babies, Ginger, Gina, Blondie and her grand fur baby, Baby.
Bertha was an expert baker.  Her homemade delicious pies and cakes were lovingly prepared for many celebrations and "just because" moments.  She also gave thoughtfully  decorated and wrapped gifts for birthdays and holidays as she always wanted the recipient to enjoy unwrapping a gift.  She enjoyed family celebrations, bunco parties, camping, holidays, barbecues, dances, road trips, vacations in Mexico by the beach, margaritas (especially at La Fogata) and cozy nights at home with Larry and their fur babies.
Bertha was a woman of enduring faith and enjoyed the fellowship of sharing her faith with her Bible study group led by Louann's mother, Mary Moreno.
Bertha was a strong and private woman who managed her diabetes throughout her lifetime.  She underwent dialysis for 9 years and in 2015 was blessed with a kidney transplant.  She was diagnosed with cancer in January of 2022 and after numerous chemotherapy and other treatments she passed away due to complications related to non-Hodgkins lymphoma.  However, Bertha lived life to the fullest and was always grateful for each new day.
Bertha is loved and will be missed by her family and friends.  She was devoted to her family and cared for everyone with unconditional love and kindness.  We will carry her legacy of love forever.
