Obituary

Blas L. Bustamante went to be with our Lord on May 18th at the age of 88. He was born on February 3rd, 1932 to Luis and Aida Bustamante of San Antonio, Texas.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Yolanda, his children, Blas Jr, Juan, Norma Jean, Roberto, JoAnn, Susie Ann, Leticia, Javier, Marivel, 30 beautiful grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and his sister, Oralia.
Blas was a proud veteran of the United States Army and served our country honorably during the US-Korean War. It was through the military that he gained the knowledge and discipline that he would apply to his life and to his career as a barber. He operated Mr. B's Barbershop on Blanco Road for over 25 years and had a loyal clientele that included many local city politicians, policemen, firemen, and residents of San Antonio. While Blas was an amazing barber, his true defining passion was for music. Whether it was playing professionally in a local mariachi trio, playing in the worship band for Our Lady of Guadalupe church, or just playing his piano to relax, music was a constant presence in Blas' life. He had an ardent desire to share his love of music with anyone that would listen and to teach others how to play music. An avid storyteller, he was always quick to offer an anecdote on any and all topics that were being discussed and to state his opinion with great zeal.
A beloved father, grandfather, husband, friend, barber, and musician. He will be missed.
Visitation will be held at Castillo-Mission Funeral Home on May 25th from 1PM to 4PM with a funeral service starting at 2PM. A private burial will follow on May 26th at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 9AM.
