Calistro G. Carabajal, born October 14th 1932 in Karnes City, TX, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 12th 2024 in Pleasanton, TX. He is preceded in death by his parents Adolfo and Ysidra (Garcia) Carabajal, the love of his life and mother of their children, Senayda (Garza) Carabajal, son Adolfo (Corina), 3 infant children, brother Benito and sister Sulema Espinoza.
He is survived by his step-daughter Janie Chavez (Alonzo) and son Ricardo of Ulysses, KS., daughter Enedina Ronquillo (Hector) of Haysville, KS., son Jim (Lee) of Galveston and son David (Laura) of Iola. Many others include his siblings; brother Anestacio (Noelia) and brother Jesus (Tonia) of Ulysses, KS., sister Francisca Gomez (Tony RIP) of Ft. Worth, and sister Rosa Flores (Willie RIP) of Iola, and a multitude of grandkids, great grandkids, great, great grandkids, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He spent his early years working to help provide for the family as well as being depended on as a father figure at age 15 to his younger siblings after the premature death of his mother. He was always a hard worker. He worked in the fields of Texas, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Ohio picking cotton, cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, strawberries and beets into his late 30's. In Ulysses, KS he was employed by Ulysses Irrigation Pipe Company. He concluded his working days at Monterey Mushroom in Madisonville. He was always good with his hands and was very self-sufficient. He enjoyed wood-working, baseball, westerns, novelas, pecan pie, Oreos, tamales, Senayda's cooking, Mexican music and going dancing on weekends. He played the accordion at a younger age. He enjoyed playing his guitar and singing and did so until he was called home.
He was greatly loved and will be missed tremendously!
Funeral proceedings will take place on December 30th, 2024 at Castillo Funeral Home located at 520 N. General McMullen Dr, San Antonio, TX 78228. Visitation will be from 8-10 a.m. with prayer service from 10-11 a.m. Procession to St. Mary's Cemetery of Somerset, TX will immediately follow.
