Carlos Valdez III
October 29, 1957-June 12, 2025
Carlos Valdez III, was born October 29, 1957 to Carlos Valdez Jr. and Emily Bailey Valdez in San Antonio, TX. He was the eldest of six children. Carlos attended Thomas Jefferson High School, and later served in the United States Marine Corp, as a Lance Corporal from 1972-1975. Carlos worked for Swift Packing Company from 1986-2019. Later, he became an independent commercial and residential painter. He was married to Alice Castro from 1981-2007. Together in this marriage, they had three children: LeeAnn C. Valdez, Charlie C. Valdez and Alex Anthony Valdez.
Carlos was known for his funny sense of humor and for never meeting a stranger. He was quick to find a common connection with others. His hobbies and interests varied throughout his life. He enjoyed collecting various knick-knacks, he also enjoyed cooking and loved barbequing for his family. He was a painter by trade, but he also enjoyed it as a hobby. Carlos loved music; he loved everything from oldies, to classic rock. Some of his favorite artist were Billy Stewart, AC/DC and Led Zeppelin. Carlos lived a life of simplicity; finding joy in the little things of life, whether it was just spending time with his parents and family or just listening to his favorite music, or enjoying a good cigarette. He lived and loved his life and was proud to be a San Antonionian. Carlos was a proud father and grandfather.
Carlos is survived by his parents, Carlos Valdez Jr. and Emily Bailey Valdez, daughter LeeAnn C. Valdez and son Alex Anthony Valdez, and their mother, Alice Castro, grandchildren, Nicholas Horacio Rodriguez, Viviana Rodriguez and Averie Faith Valdez and his siblings, Mark A. Valdez, Lynda Jean Sanchez, Larry B. Valdez, Sandra Dee Reyna, and Jo Ann Valdez, and uncle George Valdez and uncles Leroy Reyes, David Reyes, Albert Reyes, and Gus Reyes and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Carlos preceded in death by his firstborn son, Charlie C. Valdez, late grandfather Carlos Valdez, Sr. and by his late grandmother Cleopatra Reyes and his nephew, Robert Reyna III.
Though Carlos may no longer be with us in the physical sense, cherished memories we have of him will live in our hearts forever. Carlos will be remembered for his funny sense of humor, his laid back, happy spirit and for the love he had for his family. We find peace knowing he is reunited with God, Our Maker, his grandparents, nephew and his son, Charlie.
May he rest in eternal peace.
