Obituary

C arlos Olvidomartinez, 76, a long-time Layton resident, passed away of natural causes at his home on Saturday, February 11, 2023.

Born Carlos Olvidomartinez on December 6, 1946 in Palau, Coahuila, Mexico, to Carolina Ayala Guardiola and Jose Homero Martinez, Carlos became a naturalized citizen of the United States and served honorably both in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force.

He grew up in San Antonio, Texas, where he also served in law enforcement as a Bexar county sheriff's officer, prior to becoming a civil servant for the U.S air force before relocating in Utah with his job at Hill Air Force Base, from which he recently retired as a Program Manager.

Carlos was married to Angelina Morante in San Antonio. They had three children and were later divorced. He met and married Won Young Kan Uwars, and they had a son, and were later divorced. He is survived by his partner Gloria Villalobos Lopez. Carlos was a hard worker, an American Patriot, and very much enjoyed his close friends and co-workers at HAFB.

His hobbies include gardening, indulging in the arts of cinema, carpentry, mechanics, reading, camping, fishing, golfing, and spending time with his family.

He will be remembered most for his uplifting and humorous demeanor, his kind and generous soul, his encouragement to pursue higher knowledge and betterment of his family's quality of life. His devotion to his mother/father, brothers, sisters, his children and grandchildren and many other family and loved ones.

Carlos is survived by his eldest daughter, Valerie (Derek) Martinez-Gonzales of Sommerset, Texas; son, Adrian J. Martinez, San Antonio, TX; daughter, Desiree (Justin) Baker, Schertz, TX and by son, Karl Young J. Olvidomartinez , Layton, UT; Six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and by his siblings Dora Silvia Forcucci, Linda Violeta Martinez-Fuentes.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by Santa Nora Claudina Muehlenhaupt, Edgar Claudio Martinez, Sergio Homero Martinez and Hector Martinez.

Family and Friends may visit Sunday, February 26, 2023 from 3:30pm to 8 p.m. at Castillo Funeral Home at 520 N. General McMullen, San Antonio, TX 78228. Rosary will begin at 6pm. Family and friends will depart Castillo Funeral Home at 9:30am for a Mass at Christ the King Catholic Church on Monday, February 27, 2023 at 10 am. Carlos will be laid to rest with his mother at San Fernando Cemetery II on Monday, February 27 following the Mass.
