April 26, 1929 – May 17, 2020
Carlos Balderas Sr., Age 91, passed away peacefully at his home on May 17, 2020 surrounded by his family. He was born in Raymondville, Texas on April 26, 1929 to Guadalupe Balderas and Francisca Cortez.
He was a loving and devoted Son, Brother, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Uncle and friend to many. Carlos is survived by his wife Maria Natividad Vega Balderas of 62 years, his brother Alfredo and Sister Francis. His children Estella (Santos), Elida (Sid), Carlos, Rick, Gloria (Robert) and Delia (Ramiro). Grandchildren: Laura (Gabe), Ramiro (Allis), Marina, Matthew (Gabriella), Nicole, Mark, Nicholas, Gabriella, Samuel, and Michael. Great Grandchildren: Mary Jo, Cora, Clementine, Kia, Henry and Levi. And many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded by his parents, brothers Lupe and Doroteo. And his sisters Aurora, Bertha and Paula.
He served in the Army during the Korean War and 35 years as a civil servant for Lackland Air force Base. He was humble, hardworking and a gentle soul.
He will be remembered for his love of taking family photos, tinkering with gadgets, woodwork projects, and his walks to find "Goodies".
Viewing and services will be held at Castillo Mission Funeral Home @ 520 N. General McMullen Drive, San Antonio, TX 78228; on May 29th. Viewing from 9:00 to 11:00 am, Service @ 11:30 am followed by gravesite service at San Fernando Cemetery III @ 1:00 pm.
