Carmen E.
Armijo
November 16, 1931 – February 22, 2023
"Teachers Teach, Preachers Preach, and Great Mothers do it all!"
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Carmen E Armijo, age 91. She went to be with the Lord on the 22
nd
day of February 2023 at 6:25 am of natural causes in her home surrounded by the warmth and love of her family.
Carmen was born November 16th 1931 in San Antonio Tx. She attended local schools and graduated from Burbank High School in 1949. She attended the International Preparatory Institute of San Antonio for two years and received a Certificate of Christian Ministry. Carmen enjoyed singing in her church choir and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary.
Carmen was employed at Santa Rosa Hospital for over 20 years as an office supervisor and was recognized as employee of the month in 1977. She worked another 11 years and retired from Robert B Green in 1996.
Carmen was a caring mother and loving grandmother. Her children have fond memories of making snow angels with her in Chicago, IL. After moving to San Antonio they would have picnics at Riverside Park on the Medina River, they would go swimming at San Pedro Park, attend movie nights at the Mission Drive-In and on payday they would walk to Johnny Ringo's on Fredericksburg Road to eat 4 of the best hamburgers for just $1. They would also take annual family trips on the (old) road that went around the mountains (the most memorable and exhilarating part of the trip) to get into Monterrey, Mexico during the holidays from Christmas to New Year's Eve.
Carmen is survived by her children- Joe (Laura) Hernandez, (daughter-in-law) Teresa Hernandez, (daughter-in-law) Sylvia Hernandez, Sara(Victor) Trevino, Javier Hernandez, Oscar (Norma) Hernandez, Carlos (Imelda) Hernandez, Carmen (Neftali) Perez and 33 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
Carmen was preceded in death by her first husband Elias Hernandez, her second husband Luis Armijo, her children Raul and Arturo Hernandez.
We know that God is pleased to have one of His kind and generous angels back in his arms where she belongs. Always loved, never forgotten, forever missed.
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. On Tuesday March 7, 2023, the visitation begins at 4 pm followed by a prayer service at 6 pm at Castillo Funeral Home 520 N General McCullen San Antonio Tx 78228.
A Funeral service will be held on Wednesday March 8, 2023 at 9am at Central Church of God, 210 Calles St. San Antonio Tx 78207.
