Obituary

Carmen Sanchez, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister in Christ, and soul of her family went home to our Lord on Friday June 4 th , 2021, at the age of 87.  Carmen was a simple lady of faith, who loved her family and church.  She was kind and selfless, and always opened her home to those in need.  She was born in San Antonio, Tx on March 11, 1934, to Alfredo and Frances Flores.  She was raised in San Antonio, Tx with her siblings, Alice, Gloria, and Alfred.

On November 10, 1957, Carmen married her high school sweetheart, Rodolfo Sanchez, at St. Agusta Catholic Church (which is presently named St. Jude) and started her own family while working at Kelly Air Force Base.  Because of her love for baking, she decided after several years, to open her own cake shop where she used her God given talents to bring joy and happiness to many people on various special occasions, including birthday celebrations, weddings and wedding anniversaries.

Carmen was very active with the Little Flower Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) program where she coached various sports for many years.  She was a 42 yr. breast cancer survivor and dedicated her life to the Lord shortly after her battle with breast cancer.  Carmen served the Little Flower Church and community, with her time, and many fundraising talents including arts and crafts, cooking and baking. While she served, she began studying Theology and obtained an Associate's degree in Theology.  Carmen was also instrumental in bringing the women's ACTS retreats to Little Flower where she helped so many people come to Christ through the many ACTS retreats she served on.  Carmen was also the director of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) program at Little Flower Church for several years where she helped hundreds of people become members of the Catholic Church and receive their sacraments as adults.

Carmen is preceded in death by her parents Alfredo and Frances Flores, sisters Alicia Gonzales, Gloria Galindo and brother Alfred Flores.

She will be missed by all who knew and loved her, especially her husband Rodolfo Sanchez, sons Gilbert, David, Robert and Ralph Sanchez, daughter Lisa Rodriguez, son in law Alejandro Rodriguez, daughter in laws Christine Sanchez, Paula Sanchez and Clara Carbajal-Sanchez, 20 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren, numerous nephews and nieces and boundless friends of family.

Please join Carmen's family in celebrating her life with a time of visitation on Monday June 14 th 2021 starting at 6:00 pm with a Rosary service at 7:00 pm at Little Flower Catholic Church, 1715 N. Zarzamora St. San Antonio, TX 78201. Her funeral mass will follow on Tuesday June 15 th at 10:00 am at Little Flower Catholic Church as well. Please keep Carmen's family and friends in your prayers as they continue to heal from her loss.
