In loving memory of Cathaline (Katy) S. Cordoway passed away on Friday September 11, 2020, surrounded by her family. She was 89 years old. Cathaline was born in Waco, Texas, on April 25, 1931 to Jesus & Josephine Soria.

Cathaline lived in San Antonio for a year before moving to California for several years with her 2 sons, Juan & Robert. While in California she worked in an exclusive restaurant where she would see so many famous actors/actresses. She moved back to San Antonio & met David Cordoway. They dated for about a year & decided to make it official & got married Feb 1966. Katy & David adopted a son, Alfred & to make their family complete they later adopted a daughter, Lisa Ann. Over the years Katy did so much for everyone. For many years she transported elementary kids to & from school to help out working parents who couldn't drop them off at school.

Katy had a catering business for years & cooking is what she loved to do. She enjoyed doing ceramics, sewing, watching Novelas & watching SPURS games. She didn't understand every detail of the game but as long as the SPURS scored she was happy & cheered them on. Katy cooked for family when it came to weddings, baby showers, birthdays, anniversaries, graduations & any event you could think of, she would cook but she loved it. Katy's other love was to make all types of tamales & menudo especially during the holidays. Katy was the monarch of us all. She was all about family & being together, her family was her pride & joy especially her 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren & 2 great-great grandchildren. So many memories of Katy.

Katy is also preceded in death by her son, Roberto Mendez.

Katy will be truly missed by her son, Juan & Jovita Mendez, Mary Mendez (Daughter in Law), son, Alfred Cordoway, daughter, Lisa Ann Cordoway & husband Steven Lopez.

Her entire world of grandchildren were: Juan Mendez, Jr., Elisa Castillo & Angela Mendez-Mendoza, Robert Mendez, Jr., Ray Anthony & Rene Andrew Mendez & Rachel Myers, Jazmyn Sophia & John David Cordoway, Mariah Lee Cordoway, Angelica Victoria & Sofia Alexandria Lopez.

Her great-grandchildren were: Vanessa, John Anthony, Valerie Mendez, Gabriel, Joseph & Jacob Castillo, Euri Giles, Julian, Vincent Mendoza, Natalie & Narisa Mendez, James Mendez, Roland James Hernandez & Princess Rhylee Victoria Contreras.
Her great great-grandchildren: Justin and Ariel Bueno.

Services for Cathaline Soria Cordoway will be on Saturday, September 19, 2020. Visitation & Viewing at Castillo Mission Funeral Home from 12 noon until 5pm. Rosary/Prayer Services at 3pm at 520 N.
