Cecilia Muñiz
Gutierrez
April 17, 1947 – April 4, 2021
On Easter Sunday, April 4th, 2021 Cecilia Muñiz Gutierrez returned home to the loving arms of her heavenly Father. Born April 17, 1947 in San Antonio, TX, Cecilia was an adoring daughter, loving sister, devoted wife, incredible mother, proud grandmother, caring tía, and friend to all. A woman guided by her unwavering faith in the Lord, Cecilia had the special ability to make everyone feel welcome and respected. She adored spending time with her loved ones and her dogs, celebrating life and all its milestones, and expressing her creativity through crafts and cooking. As a mother, she taught her children to live with integrity and resilience, finding a way to laugh through hardships and always do the right thing no matter the consequence. In all she accomplished, Cecilia exemplified what it meant to lead with grace and fearlessness.
She is survived by her husband Isidoro Gutierrez, her children: Debbie Rentería (Juan), Andy Flores (April), Darrell Flores, and Jeffrey Flores (Cathy), her stepchildren: Angela Gutierrez and Aaron Gutierrez, her grandchildren: Andrew Flores, Audrey Flores, Paloma Rentería, Diego Rentería, Eduardo Flores, Lorena Flores, and Marisol Flores, step-grandson Alex Gutierrez, her great-grandson Alexander Flores, and her siblings: Guadalupe García, Blanca Estella Sánchez, Richard Muñiz, Mike Muñiz, and Johnny Muñiz.
In her final days, she found comfort in the presence of her family and the word of God. While her surviving family will miss her dearly every day, we are confident that Cecilia rejoices in returning to her heavenly home, and we look forward to the day we can meet her again. In lieu of flowers, please consider honoring Cecilia's memory by making a gift to the Ostomy Association of South Texas. She was an avid volunteer with this wonderful organization and made an incredible impact helping others find purpose, joy, and healing.
