Obituary

Clemencia Navarro Garza
Clemencia Navarro Garza, 94, passed away on July 16, 2026. Born in San Marcos, Texas, on November 23, 1931, Clemencia lived a remarkable life centered on hard work, family devotion, and a joyful, active spirit.

Clemencia's work ethic was evident from a young age as she spent many years working in the cotton fields. In the 1960s, she dedicated herself to caring for others as a nurse's aid at Laurelwood Nursing Home. She later spent 27 years working for the Tex-Ace Manufacturing Company, where she expertly sewed uniform caps for the military. Her talents extended to her own home, where she lovingly sewed her own dresses and beautiful clothing for her daughters.

Known for her vibrant energy, Clemencia was a passionate softball player, competing in women's leagues until the age of 40. As a famously heavy hitter, her teammates affectionately nicknamed her "Hank Aaron." At home, her family will forever treasure the unforgettable times spent together making tamales every Christmas.

Clemencia was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 30 years, Benito G. Garza, who passed away in 1986; her daughter, Sofia G. Cruz, who passed away in 2006; and her granddaughter, Julie Ann Torres, who passed away in 2012.
She leaves behind a beautiful legacy through her children: Viola N. Garza, Maria Del Carmen G. Molina (and husband Edward L. Molina Sr.), and her only son, Moises N.Garza.

She was a proud grandmother to her surviving grandchildren: Christopher Abraham Cruz, Jessica Adrian Camacho, Jose Torres III, Benito G. Torres, Edward Molina Jr., Jenny Marie De Leon, Jacqueline Valerie Williams, and Claudia Clarissa Lomas. Her legacy also lives on through her 10 great-grandchildren. Clemencia is also survived by her last remaining sibling, Josefa Navarro Gonzalez, as well as many loving nieces, great-nieces, and dear friends.
