Cleofas Nunez Zapata passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at the age of 102. He was born on April 9, 1924, in Texas City, Texas.
Cleofas dedicated 25 years of service to VIA. He was a loyal Dallas Cowboys fan who loved dancing and enjoyed every moment spent with family. Having witnessed more than a century of life, he leaves behind a legacy of strength, wisdom, kindness, and unwavering love. His family will forever cherish the memories he created and the lessons he shared.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Castillo Funeral Home, with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, July 24, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, followed by interment at San Fernando Catholic Cemetery II.
