Connie Murriel Mitchell (Wartes), 79, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas.

Born in Slaton, Texas, Connie was the beloved daughter of Carl and Vela Wartes. She lived a life defined by compassion, resilience, and unwavering faith. As a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), she devoted her career to caring for others, offering comfort and kindness to those in need.

Connie was the pillar and guiding force of strength for her family. She possessed a caring and loving soul, always wearing a smile and generously sharing her wisdom with those she loved. Her guidance, encouragement, and steadfast presence were gifts that her family will cherish forever. She had an unwavering trust in God and faithfully followed Him throughout her life’s journey, finding strength and peace in her faith.

On November 26, 1965, Connie married the love of her life, Billy Ray Mitchell. Together they built a life rooted in love, devotion, and family. Though Billy preceded her in death, their enduring love remained a source of strength throughout her life.

Connie is lovingly remembered by her children, Benjamin, Kristi, and Zed. She also leaves behind a cherished legacy through her 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, all of whom brought her tremendous pride and joy.

Connie’s legacy is one of unconditional love, quiet strength, faithful service, and unwavering devotion to her family. While her presence will be deeply missed, those who knew and loved her find comfort in knowing she has been reunited with her beloved husband and now rests in the eternal peace of her Lord and Savior.

A memorial service celebrating Connie’s life and legacy will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Castillo Funeral Home, 520 N. General McMullen Drive, San Antonio, Texas 78228. The chapel doors will open at 2:00 p.m., and the service will begin promptly at 2:30 p.m.
