Consuelo H. Lara went to be with our lord on January 19, 2022, at the age of 90.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Lara; daughter, Cynthia Cummings; sons, Richardo Sotelo and Renee Sotelo; parents, Antonio Hernandez and Soledad Amaro; stepmother, Emilia Hernandez; and her sisters, Modesta Barrera, Janie Arias, and Mary H. Amador.

Consuelo is survived by her her son, Rodney Gonzalez (Maria), eleven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 12 great great-grandchildren, and her siblings, Gloria Meredith, Olga Hodge, Eleazar Hernandez, Dora Ancira, and Anna Montague, in addition to numerous extended family and friends.

Consuelo was born on September 16, 1931, in San Antonio, Texas. She accomplished so many incredible things in life. The flexibility and commitment she had made her a spectacular military wife. In addition to being everything incredible at home, she managed to maintain a career as a beautician. She will always be remembered for her creativity and love of the arts. Consuelo enjoyed mariachi music, line dancing and playing the piano. She was a part of the Comanders senior center where she was a part of different events with the organization; one of her favorite events to participate in with the Comanders was the annual fiesta parade. She enjoyed art painting and those items will be treasured forever. Consuelo enjoyed traveling near and abroad, she was so full of life during the time she was with us. Her capacity for generosity knew no bounds as she was someone who would help anyone in need. She inspired those around her to be a better person. She loved her family and especially loved the memories made together with them.

Consuelo brought immense joy to those around her. We loved her caring ways, and she will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
