Family and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Danae Bertha Castro, who passed away on September 8, 2026 at the age of 87. She lived with strength, courage, love, faith and a laugh that could fill any room. Growing up she was an A student in high school, a member of the dance team, a lifeguard, and graduated from Tech High School in San Antonio, Texas. Danae was the only child of Bertha and Charles Castro. She was a military wife and had three children she loved very much: Lynda Locke, Albert Martinez (Liz Martinez), and Cynthia Denise Flores (Hector Flores). She had seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Before her illness worsened, she filled her days with gardening (roses and vegetables), playing chess, checkers, bingo, caring for those around her, and listening to her music. Those who knew Danae Bertha Castro will remember her creativity, how much she treasured time with her friends and family, her love for bright colors and bling, her passion for music and dancing, her big heart for people (especially the elderly), and the way she made ordinary moments feel special.

Please join us for an evening celebration on Sunday, September 20, 2026. Evening Visitation is from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a prayer service from 6:00 PM to 6:30 PM. Guests are encouraged to bring a favorite memory to share. A Morning Visitation will also take place on Monday, September 21, 2026 from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM, concluding with a graveside service from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at Mission Burial Park South.
