David B. Gomez was born on January 12, 1949, and entered peacefully into eternal rest on August 21, 2026, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family. He was 77 years old.

As a young child, David was a member of and participated in the local community Cub Scouts and was a faithful servant as an altar boy at St. Alphonso’s Catholic Church. Throughout his lifetime, David had the opportunity to explore and learn many trades and skills, despite having a limited education in his youth. He was a self-taught man and was a math guru who would often help his grandchildren with their homework assignments.

His favorite hobbies were going to lakes and rivers with his family to relax and swim, going to the gulf coast to fish and hanging out with family and other loved ones on the weekends. He was an excellent cook who wasn’t afraid or ashamed to get into the kitchen and whip up a breakfast, lunch or dinner buffet for his tribe. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs fan and enjoyed watching boxing. His favorite pastime would be listening to the oldies reminiscing about his youth and listening to some old school Spanish songs from Ramon Ayala and Freddie Martinez.

David was a faithful and loyal husband, a great father and was the “ultimate” grandpa or “Ada” (as named by his first-born grandson Mel) to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Most precious to David was his faith in God and his online participation as a member of New Jerusalem Faith Family Church with Rev. David and Diana Guzman, the deep profound love for his family and his unrelenting love for his loyal fur-baby “Guero”, and let’s not forget AJ, Sparky, and Kiko too!

In his later years before official retirement, he enjoyed his position working at Texas Industrial Services in the Laundry Department, where he worked alongside his brother Arturo. They spent many years working together before he would eventually leave Texas Industrial to embark on a new journey as the Ranch Hand for his friends Mr. & Mrs. Guy & Beverly Smothers. He really enjoyed being out on the Smothers’ Ranch, tending to the day-to-day operations handling the horses, cows and fixing and repairing fence lines and all that comes with the territory of being a Ranch Hand. He went on many out-of-town trips with Mr. Smothers in his service and always enjoyed adventures that would unravel while out on the road. They both loved to eat what they were not supposed to be eating while away from their wives! David entered official retirement in 2005 after having open heart surgery and often stated how much he missed being on the ranch. However, he quickly transitioned and became diligently focused on staying healthy to enjoy his family, especially his grandchildren. But, his greatest accolade was acknowledging Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and becoming an eternal Son!

David is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Tranquilino (Guadalupe) Barrera; paternal grandparents Roberto (Edwarda) Gomez; parents Trinidad (Paula) Gomez; Brothers Francisco, Jose, Arturo, Timoteo and Rudolfo Gomez and his heavenly grandchildren Daniel Rodriguez, Joshua Alan Maag and Kaitlin Joy Maag.

David is loved and will be tremendously missed by his beloved and faithful wife of over 55 years Beatrice Pezina Gomez; daughter Claudia Rodriguez; son Frank (Janey) Rodriguez; Grandchildren Melvin (Crystal) Allen, Marcus Allen, Damian Ruiz, David Rodriguez, Hannah Rodriguez and Frankie Rodriguez; Great-Grandchildren Larry Garcia, Violet Garcia, Abraham Garcia, Rosa Gomez and Rhylee Barron; his favorite niece April Pezina; Siblings Bertha Perez, Esther Pena, Juan (Vivian) Gomez, Richard (Mary) Gomez, Lupe (Carlos) Quezada, Magdalena (David) Hernandez, and Martin (Amparo) Gomez; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
