David Boyd Ortega passed away peacefully on November 22, 2025 surrounded by the warmth and love of his family. He was 75 born in San Antonio, Texas, January 14, 1950. Known for his loud, ambitious, rockstar spirit and his big, caring heart, David lived every day with a fire that everyone around him could feel. He was a father of five and a grandfather to many — a man whose love for his family ran deep and whose presence could fill any room.
A proud U.S. Army veteran, David served his country with honor before becoming an incredible mechanic whose skill and passion made him a trusted figure in the community. Beyond that, he was a true local rockstar legend — a musician whose talent, energy, and charisma left lasting memories with everyone who heard him play.

David spent his free time doing the things he loved most: fishing, fixing cars, and creating music. These weren't just hobbies to him; they were pieces of who he was, woven into the life he built and shared with those around him.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Alicia — his first and only love — and by his children David Jr. (wife Nancy), Janice (husband James), Steven, and Ashly; as well as 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and many family and friends who loved him deeply and will carry his stories forward.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Lillian Ortega; his brother, Gilbert Ortega; and his beloved daughter, Laura A. Ortega.

David's life was bold, unforgettable, and full of heart. He will be missed more than words can say.

David will continue to rock 'n' roll.
