David Cortez Rodriguez, age 62, passed away unexpectedly on June 12th of 2023, in San Antonio,  TX. He was born on July 5,1960, in San Antonio, TX , to San Juana Cortez & William Rodriguez. He was the youngest of 5 siblings. David was a proud resident of the Westside of San Antonio where he was born & raised. It was there, where he would meet the love of his life, Connie Garcia. He was blessed with 5 wonderful children, Jennifer, Jesse James, Amanda, Kathleen, and Kimberly.

One of his greatest accomplishments was being an amazing grandfather to 14 wonderful grandchildren. He worked as a chef at the Marriott downtown and was also one heck of landscaper. David was very loving, caring, funny, loved family time, barbecuing, going to bingo with his babe, and especially taking his grandkids on little adventures. His family was his biggest passion. David always had the ability to make anyone smile and just make them feel like family even if he just met them.

David is preceded in death by his son, Jesse James Garcia, his mother San Juana Cortez, his father William Rodriguez, his in-laws Juanita and Jesse Estrada, his beloved aunts Cindy Herrera, and Gloria Farias.

He is survived by his wife, Connie Garcia; daughters Amanda Rodriguez (Darrell), Jennifer Hernandez (Alonzo), Kathleen Arizola (Valerie), Kimberly Garcia; his 14 amazing grandchildren Juanita, Jaylee, Damien, Jessie-Jaymes, Kaidyn-Kane, Isabel, Josiah, Jesse, Jayden, Jeremy,  Bella, Joshua, Jordyn, and Nia; siblings Carmen, Lupe, Virginia, Emilio, Debbie, Michael, Elizabeth, Richard; all the numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Family, friends, and others are invited to the Castillo Funeral Home, 520 N General McMullen Dr, San Antonio, TX 78228, from 4 p.m to 8 p.m on June 28, 2023, to reminisce and honor the life of David. Mass will follow on June 29, 2023 at San Juan de los Lagos, 3231 El Paso St, San Antonio, TX 78207, departing funeral home at 9:30 a.m.
