Diego Alcala
Iii
September 16, 1981 – August 18, 2022
Diego Alcala III went to be with the Lord on August 18, 2022, at the age of 40.
Diego was born on September 16, 1981, in San Antonio, Texas to his parents Rolando T. Sanchez and Maria Elizabeth G. Sanchez. He grew up in a loving home with his late brother, Christopher G. Garcia.
He and his wife Vicky shared an eleven-year partnership full of love. He was a proud father of six children, his three daughters, Kaytlynn, Leann and BrookLynn and sons, Diego, Andrew, Nathaniel. He loved his two dogs, Rocko and Bear, and his cat, Ava. Diego enjoyed the simple pleasures of life; great conversations, making someone smile, and feeling hopeful for the future of those he knew.
He worked until his passing for Morningside Ministries at Meadows on the Northwest side of San Antonio. His passion was poker, a true shark in the sport where he was known to win a time or two; or so he claimed. Loved his Dallas Cowboys. He was a member of the ACE of Spades Poker Club. A sports man who enjoyed coaching local teams. He also enjoyed watching his favorite softball team the Westsiders . In addition to football, he loved basketball, softball, and kickball with family.
He inspired those around him to be better individuals. His capacity for generosity knew no bounds. He was someone who would help anyone in need with support, encouragement, and guidance. He had the best sense of humor and an infectious laugh. Diego loved when family and friends would get together for holidays or to share stories and his favorite, BBQ. Those times exist in our memories and will be cherished forever. As the greatest role model we knew, he will be missed tremendously.
He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Georgina H. Garcia; grandfather, Elmiro R. Garcia; brother, Christopher J. Garcia; and uncle, Elmiro R. Garcia Jr.
He is survived by his spouse, Vicky A. Alcala; father, Rolando T. Sanchez; mother, Maria Elizabeth G. Sanchez; children, Kaytlynn R. Alcala (Tre S. Williams), Diego R. Alcala, Andrew N. Alcala, Leann N. Juarez (Lupe Mora), Nathaniel E. Juarez, and Baby BrookLynn F. Alcala; grandchildren, Serenity S. Williams and Sadaidrian B. Williams; his cousin who he considered a brother, Edward Flores; and parents, Rolando T. Sanchez and Maria Elizabeth G. Sanchez. in addition to numerous extended uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2022, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 3:00 pm.
