Dora C. "Baby" Valdez was born March 24, 1939, in San Antonio, Texas.  Baby gained her angel wings on June 29, 2021, with her children and husband of 62 years by her side, in San Antonio, Texas.  Baby was preceded in death by her parents, Mariano and Aurora Martinez; her siblings, Alice Ibarra, Olga Salinas, Lillian Flores, Margie Padilla, Johnny Martinez, and Sandra Ramos; her children, Edna and Roland Valdez; and her grandson, Nathan "Whopper" Valdez.

Baby is survived by her husband, Joe; her siblings, Mario Martinez (Yolanda) and Robert Martinez (Lupe); brothers-in-law, Johnny Ramos and Santiago Padilla; children, Belinda Oliver and Joe Valdez, Jr. (Geraldine); grandchildren, Monica Maldonado (Paul), Kevin Castillo (Veronica); Neill Oliver (Nyssa), Jo-Lyn and Jacob Valdez, Kymberli Castillo, and Nina Valdez; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren (including 3-week-old Nailah Oliver); and many nieces and nephews.

Baby lived a long and fulfilling life as an amazing mother and grandmother, loving sister, and devoted wife to her husband Joe.  Baby lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures.  She and Joe enjoyed eating out and celebrating special occasions at her favorite Chinese buffets, surrounded by family and friends.  Baby never missed one of Nina's athletic functions, even if it meant watching from their vehicle when it was too hot or cold to sit in the stands.  She also loved to gamble and made frequent trips to the different casinos in Texas.

Baby attended Lanier High School and worked for many years as a provider for the elderly; she often remembered both with great fondness.  Baby was extremely generous and quick to loan money to a loved one in need.  She was such a great listener and if you were among her great list of beloved friends, you were truly blessed to know her.

Visitation begins at 3:30 pm on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at Castillo Mission Funeral Home, 520 N. General McMullen.  The rosary begins at 6:00 pm.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, July 15, 2021, at San Juan de los Lagos Catholic Church, 3231 El Paso Street.  The procession will depart from Castillo Mission Funeral Home at 9:15 am.

The family would like to thank everyone for your love and support during their time of loss.  Baby made such a difference in so many lives, she will be missed tremendously.
