In Loving Memory of Eddie Maciel Jr.
November 26, 1992 – October 14, 2026
With broken hearts and a love that will last forever, we announce the passing of Eddie Maciel Jr., a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, friend, and protector whose presence brought laughter, love, and unforgettable memories to everyone blessed enough to know him.
Eddie was the kind of person who could go months or even years without seeing someone, yet the moment they reunited, it felt as though no time had passed at all. He had a way of making people feel remembered, valued, and loved. He was the person who would call anyone and everyone just to check in, catch up, or share a conversation. He always said, “The day I’m gone, people will miss these phone calls!” Those words now carry a meaning that is impossible to put into words. His calls, his voice, his laughter, and even the little things that once seemed so ordinary will forever be treasured by the people who loved him.
To know Eddie was to know a man with a big heart and a personality that could light up any room. He was funny, loving, hardworking, and protective of the people he cared about. Eddie also had a love for dancing, and he never needed a special occasion or a dance floor to show it. He would dance anywhere and everywhere, bringing laughter, smiles, and joy to the people around him. His spirit was full of life, and he had a way of turning ordinary moments into unforgettable memories. His family was important to him, and he showed his love in the ways that mattered most: by making memories, offering support, and finding time for the people he loved. His laughter, his dancing, and the happiness he brought into every space will forever be remembered by those who knew and loved him.
For 14 years, Eddie and his wife, Alexis Maciel, shared a love story that began with friendship and grew into a life and family of their own. First best friends, then a couple, they built a bond filled with shared memories, love, and a lifetime of moments that will forever remain a part of Alexis’s heart. Together, they created a beautiful family, and the life they built will always be a testament to the love they shared. Though their time together has been cut far too short, the love they created will never end.
Eddie found great joy in being a father, especially in the relationship he shared with his daughters. He was their biggest supporter on and off the basketball court. He spent nights training with them at the park, encouraging them to keep going, and taking them on drives simply because he wanted to spend time with them. To Eddie, it was never just about basketball or where the road might lead. It was about being there, sharing time, creating memories, and letting his girls know they had someone who believed in them wholeheartedly. Those moments, once ordinary parts of their lives, will become priceless memories they can carry with them forever.
Eddie is survived by his beloved wife, Alexis Maciel, and his two cherished daughters, Alayna Maciel and Lilliana Maciel. His love for his family will continue to live on through them, and his presence will forever be felt in the hearts of those who loved him.
Eddie was preceded in death by his beloved grandfather, “Popo” Juan Carreon. Though they are no longer together in this life, Eddie is now joined in death with his grandfather, whom he loved and will forever carry in his heart.
Eddie’s life reminds us that the impact we leave on others is not measured only by the years we live, but by the love we give, the memories we create, and the lives we touch. He was a husband, a father, a friend, and a protector whose absence will be felt deeply. The silence where his phone calls once were will be a reminder of how much he meant to so many people.
His favorite Bible verse was Jeremiah 29:11:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
May these words bring comfort to those grieving his loss and remind us that even in the midst of heartbreak, hope and love remain. Though we cannot understand why his life was taken so soon, we can hold tightly to the beautiful memories he left behind and the love that death cannot erase.
Eddie, one day we will all miss those phone calls just as you said we would. We will miss your laughter, your presence, your protection, and the simple comfort of knowing you were there. We will miss the man who could reconnect with anyone as if not a single day had passed, the father who showed up for his girls, and the husband who spent 14 years building a life with his best friend.
You were loved beyond words, and you will be missed beyond measure. Your story does not end here, because you will live on in your children, in the heart of your wife, in the memories of your friends, and in every life you touched.
Until we meet again. You will forever be loved, forever remembered, and forever missed.
